When compared to previous summers 2013 will be noted as underwhelming. Every summer grosses billions of dollars collectively, yet this summer hasn’t hit the heights we thought. Iron Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness, World War Z, Man of Steel, Pacific Rim, The Great Gatsby, Fast and Furious 6, The Lone Ranger, R.I.P.D. and The Wolverine are some of the noteworthy blockbusters, however none stand out from the rest. While some have made more than enough money to garner a sequel, others were massive flops. All of them were unable to garner the love of fans and critics alike. 2013 has been looking for one blockbuster to hang its hat on. The closest thing to that would be Iron Man 3, which made over a billion dollars but isn’t even the best film in the trilogy. For all of the fanfare and hype we placed upon Elysium Director Neil Blomkamp brings the entertainment. However Elysium fails to deliver the end of summer savior we all hoped it would be.
